On here, people do that to get points, thumbs up and best answers. I've seen people put a guy in their top ten when just days prior they didn't know sh*t about their music. Yes, it happens.
Example, Tupac is my favorite rapper of all time. I truly belive he's the G.O.A.T. When I say that, I get my share of thumbs down. If I were to say Nas or someone who has alot of Stans on here, thumbs up would pour in and possibly best answer.
No. Read the answers to this, it should explain: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... EDIT: Alright let me explain a little bit. When judging which rappers are the greatest, a lot of people will use the "impact" a rapper had on hip-hop in order to measure how good the rapper was.
It does make a lot of sense if you think about it. If 200 rappers were inspired by one rapper, then he clearly advanced the genre a lot, and he should be considered great. However, when deciding your favorite the impact doesn't matter at all.
I wouldn't say that Rakim isn't one of my favorite rappers, because personally I don't like brag rap, but I can still say that Rakim is an influential rapper because Paid In Full changed the game. Also, you have to factor time periods into your top ten list. I rarely ever listen to Boogie Down Productions.
There sound doesn't appeal to me because the production is old, and the lyrics are simple, and overall it sounds really outdated. Even though Kanye is my favorite rapper, there's still no way I would put him ahead of KRS-1 in a top ten list. When deciding who the best is, you have to compare them to other rappers from the same time period.
But if you're just deciding who your favorite is, the time period doesn't matter. And finally there are tons of other factors that people use when deciding their favorites which are completely irrelevant to being a great rapper. One of the reasons that Kanye is my favorite rapper is because he was my first introduction to a new kind of hip-hop.
That has nothing to do with his ranking on a technical level, but it does make me like him more. CL Smooth is one of my favorite rappers because he raps over Pete Rock beats, and I like Pete Rock a lot. That doesn't have anything to do with his skill, it's just something that made him a favorite of mine.
And also, I can't stand listening to some of Canibus's songs because they have strong Anti-Christian themes, and personally I'm a Christian. Does that mean I'm going to pretend he has no skill? No, but it does mean that he's not a favorite of mine.
Hopefully that cleared things up for you. @Deadpool: What? I never said that.
Pac > Big. Great Avatar btw. @Deadpool: Show me a link or something.
I don't remember ever saying that. And if I did I take it back in a heartbeat.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
