How to SUCCESSFULLY Potty Train your child in five hours or less - even if your child is resistant, and you've tried other methods before! Get it now!
My daughter seems ready to start potty training. I have a seat that goes on the big potty I was going to use, but she just gets too distracted, wiggling around to see the pictures on the seat, trying to put the toilet paper IN the toilet instead of dropping it in (yuck! ) etc. It seems like the big potty is just too distracting at this point.
I've seen a couple of travel potty chairs in catalogs & stuff - they use little bags & fold up to be more compact/travel friendly. Anyone have one of these & like/dislike it? I'm considering getting one to use for both travel & at home until she's ready to just use the potty seat on top of the big potty.
Any reason a travel one wouldn't work as well as a "traditional" potty chair for every day use? Thanks! Asked by bg01ag 51 months ago Similar questions: Potty chair advice Travel potty experiences Family > Parenting.

We had a potty chair that worked well... I think it was a fisher-price (this was a long time ago! ) I think it was advertised as a 3-in-one unit, because it had a detachable "pee-guard" for boys, and because when you finally removed the seat (which later could be used with the toilet), you could turn over the base and use it for a step-stool so the kid could actually climb up on the fullsized unit. It was blue plastic tank unit with a white seat.
We found the big toilet was just too much when they were first learning. This unit was easy to rinse out and very stable, compact, and low to the ground. I could also move it upstairs and downstairs as we went about the day.
I wouldn't bother with the bags and so forth for a travel unit, myself. This potty chair, for us, worked fine for home and for travel, without messing around with bags. Stability is the big thing--you want something that is not going to be the least bit "tippy."

Our girls and our son never used a potty chair on the "big" potty They always used a separate one. The girls had two little chairs and by the time they were done, our son used one of their chairs. It was pretty much like this onebabylandpa.com/store/product.php?product..., the distraction was much less and no water to touch.
We'd sit in there forever - my girls would sit in there and we'd read and sing and they would eventually go. Usually me or their Mom and both of them at the same time. My son, it was a struggle, because he was real distracted by playing - we wanted out of there and back to whatever he was doing.
But finallyand when we moced to the "real" potty - no problem. Sources: My answer .
A little potty works best for beginners! My son went from using the little potty to using the big potty (no seat insert) and loved it! He felt like a big boy when he graduated to the big potty.
I think it's important to use the small potty to best fit the child! Remember, our "potty" fits us not them! Sources: personal experience!.
Don't use one in a moving vehicle... 'nuff said.
1 NancyE: I think I used exactly the one you are describing. It did work very well. When I was little, my mom would put it in the car cause we traveled a lot, and I had a problem waiting for the next stop.
Back then, they didn't have travel versions. True, there was a mess to clean up in the actual toilet part, and there was the chance of spills on bumpy roads. All in all, though, it was fine.
I honestly don't know how well the travel ones work. I would think that bumpy roads could still be a problem, though, if you can't pull over after it's been used. As a product designer, though, I am looking at a chair that addresses just that.In fact, my research for that is what led to this question.
I honestly don't see why you couldn't use a travel one every day. But, I don't know. Hope you find what you need!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
