The authority that these eight men have ascribed to themselves is breathtaking. Here is another quotation to show just how much power the Governing Body now has: "The anointed and their other sheep companions recognize that by following the lead of the modern-day Governing Body, they are in fact following their Leader, Christ." Watchtower 15 September 2010 page 23 ‘Jehovah’s Witnesses’ means that body of Christians who recognise the spiritual authority of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses situated at 25 Columbia Heights Brooklyn New York, United States.” – Defined under section 9.1 of the Articles of Association (30th October 2000), for the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Britain.
The 1 April 2007 Watchtower magazine had an article about showing respect to and supporting the Governing Body "in view of their diminishing number" (pages 21-25). It applied Mat. 24:45-47 to a faithful remnant of spirit-anointed Christians in 1918 using the Watchtower journal and other publications to spiritually feed others, so in 1919 Jesus entrusted them with the management of all his earthly belongings and interests.
Here are some quotes: "As in early Christian times, a small group of spirit-anointed overseers make up the Governing Body of Christ's followers on earth today. By means of his 'right hand' of applied power, Christ, the Head of the congregation, directs these faithful men as they supervise the Kingdom work." Then it used Hebrews 13:17 ("Be obedient to those who are taking the lead among you and be submissive, for they are keeping watch over your souls") to urge obedience to the Governing Body.
It then equated showing respect for the Governing Body with showing respect for Jesus Christ: "Therefore, when we loyally submit to the direction of the faithful slave and its Governing Body, we are submitting to Christ, the slave's Master... Another Scriptural reason for showing respect for the faithful slave is that anointed Christians on earth are figuratively spoken of as a 'temple' that Jehovah inhabits 'by spirit'. As such, they are 'holy.'.. For this reason, all in the congregation view it as their sacred duty to follow and uphold the direction coming from the faithful slave and its Governing Body... Symbolically, the other sheep today walk behind the anointed slave class and its Governing Body, following their leadership." As the Governing Body has not yet disappeared, then its claim to authority over the millions of present-day Jehovah's Witnesses remains as stated above.
15 July 2013 Watchtower: “Who Really Is the Faithful and Discreet Slave?” The article begins by sweeping aside the previous understanding that the faithful slave was appointed in 33 CE, and goes on to explain how the words of the “prophecy” began to be fulfilled only after 1914. The faithful slave is identified specifically as being “a small group of anointed brothers” currently comprising the Governing Body as a “composite slave.”
The article concludes by boldly insisting that Christ WILL appoint the Governing Body, along with other anointed Christians, “over all his belongings” when he comes in judgment during the Great Tribulation. No loyal and obedient Witness would dare to disagree with the Governing Body because that would be taken to mean they were disagreeing with Christ Jesus himself. What arrogance those eight men have!
Not content with taking this authority upon themselves, they have also dared to say that Christ Jesus will appoint them over all of Christ's belongings. I reckon that's even worse that equating themselves to Christ, because they are now telling Christ what to do! LM.
Eph 6:1,2 tells us we are to honor our parents in union with Christ. If we are obedient to our parents, then it is showing we are also obedient to Christ. They are not equal.
“Be obedient to those who are taking the lead among you and be submissive.” (Hebrews 13:17) Paul was not suggesting that those in the lead and Christ are equal. @Grey - what organization can 8 have arrogant men to lead 8 million and not have dissension or it be disorderly? No one follows an arrogant man.
Look at history and show me any man that was as you described able to have followers from all over the world, different ages, and promote peace and happiness and helped change lives for the better. Therefore, by Jehovah's holy spirit we have 8 humble men who have dedicated their lives to ensure that all 8 million and growing have their spiritual food given at just the right time. Don't you read your bible?
There are countless of scriptures that discuss about how men who were prideful all fell from Jehovah's approval. We have articles that direct us to how to be humble and follow the pattern of Jesus. Really, if these men were arrogant, and sought for prominence, 8 million ones would surely see right through this charade.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
