Rabbit digging dilema>>>>?

This hutch is a very popular one, I had one like that for one of my single foster buns once. The actual hutch is off the ground, which is perfect. The run is nice and large (UK animal welfare law says the hutch should be 6ftx2ftx2ft, with and 6x4 run).

I would, however, recommend that you house it on concrete or paving slabs. On grass, the rabbit could dig out, or foxes, ferrets or wild rabbits (carrying disease) could dig their way in. This isn't speculation, IT HAPPENS!

If you put mesh down, your bun will rip it's claws out causing pain, infection and possibly death as a result from it. If you want to put mesh down, use foxproof stuff, and set it AT LEAST 4ft deep, then turf the top. You will also need to returf the area regularly, as buns eat grass quicker than it can grow!

:D Concrete is easier to clean, and I recommend disinfecting the area at least once a week, allowing it to thoroughly dry before allowing your bun back into the area. This will help prevent flies being attracted and the risk of Flystrike is reduced greatly. You can't disinfect grass and mud, so Flystrike is always a factor housing on mud.

It sounds like you are trying to do your absolute best by your bun, well done! I can recommend Rabbits United Forums as a an amazing source of information! http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/index....

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
