My mom has a 2000 Forester that has a rattling sound at idle. Question regarding yours: Does your rattle sound metallic, almost as if sheet metal was banging against something? If so, it could be a loose exhaust hanger or heat shield.
The reason this is my guess is based on the location of "coming from your feet". A lot of newer vehicles have various forms of heat shielding on the undercarriage, especially near exhaust systems. As for the situation on my mom's car, it's been that way for about 45,000 and is more of an "ignorable nuisance" if anything.
I guess a better way to describe the noise would be to ask if it sounds "tinny.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
