Recently turned on our heating system. Smells like "stinky feet"! Why and how do I get rid of the smell in my house?

We turned the heating on after it being off all summer. We gave the dog a bath that same evening. I thought the horrible smell was the wet dog but it is still here two days later.It smells like someone's nasty feet or a gym locker room.

It seems to drift in and out and is not a constant smell. Which led to me think it may be the heating system since that is the only "change" that has taken place recently. I think is a heat pump or forced air.

The smell is usually caused by the burning of dust that has settled on or near the burners. When a heater has been off for a long time, like for the Summer season, dust can gather around the burners. When the burners are activated, the dust burns and can give of a stinky smell.

All you can do is open the windows and air out the house. The dust will soon burn off completely and the smell will disappear. If the smell is really bad and/or lasts for a longer time, it is possible that a critter has crawled up and died in or near the burner.

This will take longer to burn off and smell worse. It is best to have your furnace checked before it is turned on for each cold season. They are trained to clean off the dust and remove anything that might hinder performance.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
