I don't think the Senate will approve it. The attack isn't just against PP, but against all federally funded forms of birth control (called Title X). ALL of them.

Unless they want to see a bunch more unplanned, unwanted pregnancies, they best rethink that whole thing. Especially since there's no real social safety net for after the baby has been born and there are over 115,000 children already awaiting adoption in the US alone http://adoptuskids.org How stupid can they get? Apparently pretty damn stupid.

Oh, FYI - the PP in my area does not do abortions. They give referrals, sure, but so do almost all the local doctors. They are, however, the only place in our county that does free HIV and STD testing now that budget cuts have closed the county run clinics.

They also provide condoms for free and birth control of various types for free, not to mention free PAP smears. We take homeless and very poor people in need of these services out there about twice a month. So that would be a huge loss for my community.

There are really only three viable aid organizations in my area - the one run by the Catholics, the one run by us Heathens (I'm the outreach coordinator and counselor) and the Salvation Army, in order of size. NONE of us have the resources to pick up this slack. We're already stretched to the limit to the point we can no longer afford to put women with small infants up in a hotel room until a better place is found for them.

They now sleep outside with everyone else. The situation is incredibly dire and I can't believe the HoR would even THINK this crap is a good idea. Bastards.

I'm checking their voting records before the next election and if one of MY reps voted to kill Title X funding, they're out of there. Edit: Title X is federal, not state, and federal law already prohibits the use of federal funds to provide abortion services unless the woman's life is demonstrably and irrefutably in danger. So abortion isn't an issue with this action, it is merely an attack on very poor women's reproductive rights in the form of removing any and all federal funding for birth control - one of the first weapons in the war against abortion in the first place.

My "onion" on this one is fried...with a dab of catsup on the side. My opinion on whether the Senate will approve the bill is that the government (and I don't mean Pres. Obama, I mean the morons in Congress) will only approve it if there's big bucks in it for them.

I believe Pres. Obama is trying to work things out, but sadly he is "slapped down" a lot by Dems. And Reps.

Alike. He's only a figure-head who doesn't seem to have a lot of say, though he perhaps should. My religion is Christian...not Catholic or Protestant.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
