Regarding octo-mom: aren't there rules about how many people can live in a single-family dwelling?

Seriously, I knew a young couple 30 years ago that had to move into a two bedroom apt. When their baby was born because it was legally required. This was in Virginia; maybe laws vary.

But I would think there would be safety hazards in housing so many people in a (relatively) small house. Overcrowding of children would seem (to me) to be a form of neglect. How do other AVers weigh in on this?

No, the government may not tell me how many children I may have. Yet. I suspect that's where all the media hype on this is going, tho.

What with the genocide in Burma and Sudan, the terrorist re-arming in Gaza, the arrest and torture for mere religion in China, our "news" can only come up with this little diversion for some reason other than it being a diversion. No, the county social services merely mandates that the li'l tykes be fed, clothed, and have a comfortable bed to sleep in. At age five, it's our problem.

Or are you still confused on how many "families" are in this "single-family dwelling"? .

I agree with you. When you talk about 14 babies, you're also talking about much needed space to acommondate them all comfortably. I don't think a law is necessarilly needed, just common sense.

I can hardly wait to see the headlines when these kids reach difficult ages. Oh MY!

I know if you are on a housing assistance program and have girls and boys there is a restriction...but otherwise I don't think so cause I have heard of families living in two bedroom apts with 5 or more in the family...

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
