Remember when critics of the Affordable Care Act claimed that it would cause premiums to skyrocket?

Oregon has just ratified our insurance exchange; which includes assistance to low income families. - which of course will be getting us a waiver from Obamacare; since we did it on our own instead of dragging our feet and kicking and screaming.

The best thing is for government to get out of health care. Whenever government gets involved in anything the costs go up. The system was so much better before HMOs, medicare and medicaid. It worked best when the patient could simply deal with their doctor, when doctors were more focused on prevention, and when doctors were not so specialized which came about simply as a way to make more money.

Wellness really is simple. Good health does not come from governments, insurance companies, tests or doctors. No one will care as much about your health as you should. Recently I read where someone had a rash and went to three different doctors who gave three different diagnoses and all of them were wrong.

Recently you have seen about the e. Coli outbreak. Be aware that e.

Coli can only come from animal products not from fruits and vegetables. Good health is about being accountable and being responsible and becoming well informed so that no one can decieve you in the name of profit. Have a great day!

All due respect, Barb, I've seen you give advice here on Askville that is borderline negligence (see a holistic doctor to get weaned off of blood pressure medication). You have an agenda, and while I respect your right to promote it, don't expect everyone to be receptive. And to state that e.

Coli cannot come from fruits and vegetables is just plain wrong. The produce becomes contaminated when it is irrigated with water that contains e.coli. People can get very sick from eating that produce, even die.

You're spreading misinformation here. Not cool. Not cool at all.

I have studied wellness for 17 years. I do not have an agenda other than promoting the truth. Fruits and vegetables have e.

Coli contaminate them from the fecal matter of animals that gets into the water that is then sprayed on them with all due respect. I will not reply to any other of your posts since you don't seem to want to hear the truth or like my answers. Have a great day!

Well, that may be true in CA, but they haven't done the same here in MA, that's for sure. We're switching to BCBS on July 1 here from Tufts HMO, there are still rate increases. We will be spending an additional $40/week split between the employer and employee for a family plan.

Our family plan costs over 10K annually and is covering less and less. My employer pays roughly 70% of the premium while employees pay 30%. It's really sad.

Only 10 years ago, I was paying 1/3 of that for a plan that covered a LOT more.

Hopefully you'll see your premiums coming down, too. That is horrible. _Goldie_ 5 months ago .

BTW, while I live in CA, we have Harvard Pilgrim insurance in MA, and they have been excellent. _Goldie_ 5 months ago .

Yes, I LOVED Harvard Pilgrim when we had it several years ago... But the premiums went up and my employer dropped it.

People don't NEED health insurance. People NEED health care. If the answer to the question "Should everyone be entitled to basic health care?" is yes, then it becomes clear that the government should see to it that everyone is provided health care.

Here we have profit driven insurance companies whose bottom lines can be improved by denying coverage. The notion that these companies can be inserted between physicians and patients with optimal results is ludicrous on its face.

Vermont's Gov recently signed a single payer state healthcare program bill. It's already had amazing success with pay as you can afford clinics including dentistry and are scattered around the state. They too will be taking the President up on his offer to allow states that develop their own programs equal to or better than The Affordable Health Care Act.

He addressed horrible insurance fraud nationwide, solved a lot of inequity and encouraged states to address their own issues. I think Blueshield is trying to clean up its act because California is on the verge of something similar to Vermont. No insurance company would have made any attempt to correct any level of corporate abuse if the President had not addressed healthcare abuse in this country.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
