Republicans: do you care about the debt, then why not let the Bush tax cuts expire and cut it by a third?

Clinton did make the deficit disappear. In fact, it was the first surplus we had since Andrew Jackson was in office. Republicans are... Hmm, how do I say retards of America without sounding rude?

Here is the problem with your little idea. Every time you raise taxes you lose income. And the higher you raise taxes the more income you lose.

The only way you can raise taxes and get more money is if people agree to pay the increased tax. And they never do. They always find some way, legal or not, to avoid paying the tax.

Let me give you an example. If the tax on whiskey is $1 a bottle people will pay it because it is low. Raise it to $5 a bottle and people will buy less whiskey.

Raise it to $500 a bottle and you get bootleggers. At $5 a bottle you get an increase in whiskey tax revenue but the decreased sales translates into fewer jobs and fewer people paying income tax. And you lose money.

At $500 a bottle almost NOBODY buys legal whiskey and you have huge loses in whiskey tax revenue. The distilleries close and over a million people in the distilleries and related industries lose their jobs. This includes the people who make the bottles, truck drivers who deliver the whiskey, liquor store employees, etc. New jobs are created in the bootlegging industry but since they are illegal jobs they pay no taxes.

Why do you think FDR repealed prohibition? He needed the money. Here is a little tidbit for you.

If everyone who earned $100,000 or more a year had to pay 100% of their income in taxes it wouldn't be enough to repay the money our government will borrow this year alone. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but few if any people will be willing to work for free. The trouble is our government spends too much.

Since we can't raise taxes enough to cover what they spend we have only one option left. SPEND LESS. But since the Democrats depend on huge spending to buy enough votes to get elected they will never agree to spend less.

They are always willing to borrow more and spend more and go deeper into debt to get elected and reelected. They feel that bankrupting this country is a small price to pay for them to keep their jobs. But as a liberal you will stick to you ideology no matter what reality is.

And anyone who disagrees with you must be insulted. BTW You are not supposed to say "mouth breather" you are supposed to say "racist." Didn't you get the memo from the great Democratic mother ship on the proper way to insult those who disagree with yo?

If the government wanted to raise my taxes by 2 or 3% and agreed that all the money would go to pay down the national debt I would gladly agree to pay the extra tax. But it won't go on the debt. It will go for turtle tunnels, mafia museums, or some other stupid crap we don't want and don't need.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
