It will take some economic education and then they can go from the progressive so called "liberals", to classical liberals. http://libertarianwiki.org/Classical_lib... "I use throughout the term 'liberal' in the original, nineteenth-century sense in which it is still current in Britain. In current American usage it often means very nearly the opposite of this.
It has been part of the camouflage of leftish movements in this country, helped by muddleheadedness of many who really believe in liberty, that 'liberal' has come to mean the advocacy of almost every kind of government control. I am still puzzled why those in the United States who truly believe in liberty should not only have allowed the left to appropriate this almost indispensable term but should even have assisted by beginning to use it themselves as a term of opprobrium. This seems to be particularly regrettable because of the consequent tendency of many true liberals to describe themselves as conservatives." ---F.A. Hayek, in the Forward to "The Road to Serfdom" (1944).
I think they are slowly learning the truth. Polls show that democrats are leaving their party in record numbers and becoming Independents. Not all democrats want to see this great nation fail.
For those that don't believe me fact check that info.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
