I'm listening to the album now, but it's taking a SHITLOAD of time, because my douchebag cousin is hogging all the bandwidth by playing some online game. -___- I'll edit in about 3-4 hrs. Edit: Sorry it took so long, I fell asleep :P Anyway, coming back to the album, it wasn't quite what I was expecting.
Very different from Opeth and PT's usual stuff.(well, maybe a tad similar to Opeth's softer stuff, Damnation, anyone?). I really thought I'd get to hear more of Mikael and Steve's voice more, because I REALLY like Mikael's voice. It sounded a little post-rockish to me *COUGH* Godspeed You!
Black Emperor *COUGH*, but the atmosphere and ambience of the album as a whole is brilliant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Prqr-Ht4-... That being said, I have to agree with the first answer, it DID seem a tad TOO minimalist. Overall, beautiful album, brilliant flow and feel, and really good album on the whole.
BQ1: from an answer I gave to a similar question: "i'm gonna go with Damnation. A complete badass mofo of an album. Starts off with the ever-so-beautiful Windowpane.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CvltVKja... acoustic stuff) oh man, I could just listen to that all day. Then it has Hope Leaves, In My Time of Need, and Death Whispered a Lullaby, songs I think where Mikael really shines. Closure is an aweome song, kinda a signature Opeth song.
Weakness is one of the most beautiful album endings ever.
I like it cause its differant... im soooo sick of the same old cookie cutter bullshit out today.. thanx for da find.. BQ-deliverance.. great work musicly... BQ2- duno them... good to see ya!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
