Psoriasis does not respond to home treatments very well-- I suggest you start with the real deal, get some real med from your doctor.

I've been to several dermatologist in Iowa and California (winter)still haven't come up with a solution to the problem. Someone has suggested Lidex (new to me) Thanks... newbie6588650 1 month ago .

A_H gives excellent advice! I've tried many of the "do it yourself" things, but nothing really helped, and the condition only worsened... to a point where the itching was unbearable and I finally went to a dermatologist. I've had scalp psoriasis for about 30 years.

For me, the only truly helpful med that takes away the itching AND heals the affected area is the prescribed med Lidex. Sun is also suggested to 'help', but that's a little difficult to do on the scalp. PS- I also get very small patches on my ears, knees and left ankle.

One or two applications of the Lidex and it goes away for at least a month but then reappears.

They keep giving me Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream (different strengths) which helps a little. I have it on my ears also - itches like crazy but there is nothing visible. They'retreating my eyelids now a little - not too bad but how wish I couldget rid of it!

I just had my last dermatologist appt for the winter before I leave Iowa for CA for 6 months. I'll call next week and see if they will give me the Lidex presc. What state are you in and how did you discover the Lidex?

Thanks much.... newbie6588650 1 month ago .

I'm in NJ, but you should be able to get this anywhere. I came down with the condition after a car accident ... it was not a serious accident, but I was only 18 and I was soooo upset over the accident that several days later I broke out in psoriasis all over my body... it looked like I had measles! After going to 5 doctors, and all of them saying "I don't know what you have." (talk about being scarey!

) my mom finally took me to a dermatologist. He knew immediately that it was psoriasis. He felt it was my severe nervous reaction to that accident that caused me to break out so badly.

For several months I had to soak daily in tar baths, and sun bathe as much as I could -- This was in April! Which is not exactly sun bathing weather here in Jersey! After my tar bath I had to apply the Lidex on the spots and then baby oil over my entire body.

(He said it was important for me to keep my skin moisturized as much as possible, so I would put moisturizing lotions on -- all over -- at least 3 times every day. )Hmmmmmmmm. Come to think of it, initially he had given me a pill that I took only for a few weeks ... methatrexate ... I understand it's a med that is used to cure cancer ... But he had prescribed that because I had such a severe case at that time.

When the spots began to subside I needed only to apply the Lidex on the spots as needed, and keep moisturizing. Both of the meds (Lidex and Cyclocort) come in creams and gels. The doctor had given me samples of both and later prescribed the larger tubes for me when I told him which I preferred.

I like the creams because they feel less greasy, and the cream kind've disappears into the skin, so it doesn't interfere with make-up application, etc. Here are links to the two prescribed meds: --drugs.com/mtm/lidex.htmlhttp://www.drugs... had been using only the Lidex but when I told him it wasn't relieving the itching on my ears, he prescribed the Cyclocort, and that did help. Good luck to you. I know what you're going through!

Feel free to keep in touch if I can be of any further help to you.Html.

My daughter uses Kennalog. It is a prescription med. She says it is the only thing that helps.

Were can I get dermapore gloves for the treatment of psoriasis.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
