If you are doing better now you are "trending upward". My kid is looking at colleges and wants to get into U of I Illinois for engineering which is very tough. He got 2 D's freshman year, got A's and B's sophomore year and junior year he took a number of AP classes which he did well in.
His test scores were very good so he should be able to get in. My daughter who is graduating in a week had bad grades and OK test scores. She is going to a junior college for at least a year to show she can handle college level classes and will have a great chance at a regular university if she does well in junior college.
I talked to a counselor 2 days ago at U of I about my son and she indicated they like to see kids "trending upward" so it sounds like they are more worried about sophomore and junior year than what you did in your freshman year. Keep pushing and if you do better junior year and test well for the ACT's you should be fine.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
