Second World War - Why did the USA declare war on Germany?

Why they let them in in the first place amazes me. There is just no level a politician will not sink to to empire build - they are ALL the same. Merkl can't declare war till Germany has new marching songs and Galliano has put some designs in for new uniforms.

Lol Ms Merkel did not threaten to declare war on anyone but she did raise the spectre of war as a likely eventual outcome if Europe broke up, the whole concept of Europe originally was to have free trade aided by a common currency to do away with all the complicated exchange rate computations every time you buy, sell or travel within Europe and bring stability to the whole region which had suffered two devastating world wars! Sadly they all got carried away with the idea of a European Superstate which no one voted for or signed up to but was pushed forward on the sly with the collusion of politicians who did not have such a mandate from the electorate. Where it has all gone wrong is that they ignored their own rules on qualifying parameters for membership so some basket case economies were reeled in and are now dragging the whole thing down.

There are many ordinary folk not just in Britain but other member states who are uncomfortable with the idea of being ruled by an unelected quango who take a lot of decisions affecting our lives out of the hands of our elected representatives, what happened to our vote when our own politicians are being overruled? The whole thing could end up in civil unrest anyway if it continues in it's current form as more and more people resent having their identities hijacked and subborned to an alien power hungry and wastefully corrupt Superquango!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
