I'm glad you asked, Poppet - I saw The Hurt Locker last week and I loved it even though I don’t usually like war movies. This one deserved Best Picture IMO. I recently saw a movie called Before The Rains. It was wonderful, the story, the vivid photography, the passion - everything about it was outstanding.
It takes place in India of 1937 and involves a British planter, his wife, his servant and the tensions both in the relationships and the country at that time. Jennifer Ehle stars as the wife (Pride and Prejudice w/Colin Firth). I’ll post a link below.

I was disappointed by "The Lightening Thief. " But not as much as by Star Trek (I am still very unhappy that I bothered with that garbage. ) However, even with its obvious propaganda and religious overtones, I was stunned by Avatar.
Tho I'd recommend seeing it in 3-D to get the full effect of the game-changing technology that the folks in Hollywood won't recognize with "Best Picture" but will duplicate from now on. My daughter came home with Zombieland and that was very funny, which isn't easy for a narrated movie, but it managed to make the narration a running gag instead of a running commentary. Less gore than most zombie flicks, too, so I recommend it.
Actually, much of the zombie kills are done more in slapstick (zombie fall guy? ) My wife and I think Alice in Wonderland looks good (but so did Star Trek).
AVATER! AVATAR! AVATAR!3-D Yes, it really lives up to the hype!
I didn't see The Hurt Locker, but I think AVATAR deserved more awards! Seeing it was as thrilling as seeing the first Star Wars movie: It really raises the bar for science fiction, and for movies in general. It is obvious that James Cameron's time spend on his underwater documentary "paid off" on an artistic/cinematic level.
I want to see it several more times in theaters, because I'm not equipped for 3-D at home...yet. Video ...and the best spoof I've seen yet!.

2 Yes. The movie was "Amelia. " Yes, yes, I know, it didn't do well in the theaters.
But I'm a history buff, and it was wonderful to see the authenticity that they put into the film, especially when they produced the only other existing Lockheed Model 10 Electra in the world to add a touch more realism.

" "Where can I find equipment so I can transfer BetaMax home movies to DVD. I want to do this myself. " "I have lots of dvd movies and would like to edit parts of movies into my home videos.
Is this possible? How? " "What movies made you stand up and cheer at the end in the theater?
" "Do you like musicals?(movies or theater)" "Have any of you seen any of these four movies? Did you like them? Which did you like the best?
" "What movies is this?" "I'm going to the movies...what should I see? " "Do you think google will buy my old 8mm home movies for only $1.65 million?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
