If it's in the basement and the toilets and sinks are upstairs, then the lowest point would get sewerage first. If they're all on the same level, you could have a clog somewhere where the water is still draining when you flush the toilets or run water, but when it's hit all at once with a big stream of water from the washer, it's backing up.
