Should contestants be allowed on American Idol that have already had a recording contract?

No! American Idol is supposed to be about discovering new talent, so it should be all amateurs. I'm not saying they need to all be young people who never played at parties or bars, that's OK.

But I really think it should be all about the best performer wins a recording contract. That won't be a big deal to someone who already had one. It is also unfair for the other contestants to have to compete against someone who already had a recording contract.

That is my opinion, and I am sticking to it. :) I have not read the other answers yet.

I really don't think they should. If they have a contract they shouldn't be on the show because American Idol's main purpose is to turn a nobody into a somebody. That somebody would be someone who has never had a chance to exploit their talent before.

If they had a contract, they still shouldn't be on the show, because they already had their time to shine. If they failed to make it big, it was their own fault, and will just take up someone else's space on the show. I'm guessing American Idol is juts trying to draw more attention to the show, through controversies and that sort of attention grabbers.

I think it depends on the type of recording contract. If it remotely compares to the one they receive through American Idol then no. However, I believe many contestants in the past have had small recording contracts, but they don't compare to what they would achieve through American Idol and think that is acceptable.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
