I definitely feel that if someone has been away from Mahalo for a month or more, their pages should be removed. (Unless they contact Mahalo ahead of time). It doesn't benefit Mahalo as a company to have a bunch of stale pages.
They're not good for SEO, they're not good for the users of the site who use Mahalo to find information. I think a system could be developed that can ping page managers and tell them when their pages haven't been updated for a while and give them the chance to update them or alert staff of their absence. I want to take the pages I manage and make them be absolutely awesome.
Not just for the potential cash flow for me, but also for Mahalo to be successful and a good community with legitimate information. :).
There is a lengthy discussion going on as we speak about this very issue. mahalo.com/answers/mahalo2/discussion-wh... At the current moment when staff comes across a site in need of an update we send the manager a friendly reminder of How Mahalo Works and what we expect out of page managers, if they do not reply, we liberate their pages so they can be picked up by somebody in the future. I just messaged these two users, if they don't respond their pages could be available soon.
I would say it depends how you describe not using. We cannot know for certain if a person is permanently off Mahalo or just gone for vacation or busy at work or other things. First off I would send each user a message concerning their page, perhaps they will update it if you point it out.
If they truly have no time perhaps they will even acknowledge it and give up the page for others (you) to claim. If nothing happens let one of the top Mahalo guys/girls know, those all-knowing blackbelts ;) Mahalo is about accurate and also up to date content, and if pages are slackin off then people who will do a better job managing them deserve and need to be able to take hold of pages which others are no longer updating.
The Discussion about that is going on. If you are interested in managing, send an email to contact@mahalo. Com with your mahalo user name, showing your interest in managing those pages.
The staff will be glad to help you. There is a discussion about page management going on too. Anyway, someone has to manage the pages and update them often.
I agree to that.
There should be a statute of limitations - it's not fair to people genuinely interested in getting answers to their questions. Mahalo must be able to sort members by the last date of their contributions. So the first step is to determine the most recent activity.
If the most recent contribution exceeds one month, especially for page managers, they should receive a courtesy warning via email for a one-week cutoff date. This gives them the opportunity to explain, wake up, get on the ball, or decline. That's an ample amount of down time, plus a fair warning.
After that, page is up for grabs.
I think maybe a time-limit or a notice regarding their account and it's non-use and no respond- take the page away!
I agree with Nick. Don't just assume but try to figure out the situation!
I read official Mahalo statement mahalo.com/leaderboard/pages that said that if you hadn't visited you page within a week another member could claim it. This is where we rank the Mahalo pages that have received the most views and earned the most money, along with the page managers responsible for maintaining and promoting those pages. Page managers receive 50% of the page's total revenue in Mahalo Dollars.
If you want to get started managing a page, either build a new Mahalo page that isn't already in our system, or look around for a page that's built but doesn't have a manager. (Some of these may be listed in the Mahalo Tasks system. ) Once you have claimed and/or built the page, start promoting it across the Web to get more traffic!
Be sure to check in on your page often, though - if no edits are made in a week, the page will go back into the general system and can be claimed by someone else. Once a Mahalo user earns M$40 or more, they will start getting paid.
Yes, mahalo should do this. But they will able to appeal.
I think that pages should be taken off which the users don't use anymore because they can't reply to any answers or comments people leave.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
