I disagree entirely with your presupposition that "marriage is ordained by God. " What proof would you suggest for that assumption? The state of marriage is entirely man-made and therefore we can make any rules about it that we so choose.

If this were not so, then why do animistic tribes and atheists, for example, have marriage bonds that are just as strong and lasting as church-formal marriages? It is also entirely personal: So long as I don't try to tell you who you should marry, why do you think you have the right to tell me? Therefore, no, marriage does not have to be between a man and a woman.

If I choose to marry someone of the same sex, it has no affect on your choice to marry a person of the opposite sex and vice versa. Of course, if you don't believe in freedom, I guess it is OK for someone else to tell you what you can and cannot do with your romantic life. What a shamefully limited life that would be, though.

For YOU perhaps, but I don't believe in God, so anything said to be ordained by a God is not an ordainment I follow. Your divine law applies only to you and others who follow whatever particular God ordains such things. Since religion is based on belief and faith, the "laws" of that faith can only apply to those who believe it.

The rest of the world gets to choose for themselves how they wish to marry. Those who wish to utilize the state governance to enforce a religious belief are acting in exactly the same manner as the Taliban who would enforce religious beliefs about women wearing Burkhas. There is no difference.

Both are violations of civil rights. The entire concept of a divine or religious law reigning supreme over secular governmental law is entirely un-American. One man's "divine law" is not the divine law of another therefore it is purely individual and has no civil bearing.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
