Because most of these people who give support to conservatives are either misinformed or easily persuaded or they are one-issue voters or they're taking advantage of everyone else. So, basically, you have people who don't actually do research before voting, believe everything they hear on Fox 'News' and political campaign ads (the first two kinds of conservatives go hand-in-hand), they pick one issue (like abortion) and use that as their one criteria for voting, or they profit off of having someone like Romney as a president (rich, white, American men). A lot of people just don't realize what modern republicanism and conservatism actually stands for.
It's awful. Republicans are great at inciting passion in crowds of people, even though what they're saying doesn't make sense sometimes or it's irrelevant, or it actually hurts the majority of Americans. The problem, aside from the obvious, is that liberals are too timid and polite.
Yes, you should remain dignified and you shouldn't stoop to the conservative level of playing dirty and using things (like the middle name of our president), that are irrelevant to the affect that a candidate's policies are going to have on your life, to win a debate or crowd's favor. But liberals are just too f*cking ready to state their opinions, calmly, and, when things get heated, back down. Liberal politicians need to realize that everyday Americans NEED that inspiration - that cold, hard truth to slap them in the face and wake them up from the pathetic stupor that ensues their content-by-habit lives.
As much as I have no respect for modern day conservatives, liberals are just as much to blame for the situation of the U.S. through their inaction and complacency. We need a person - someone like MLK to cause people to take a look at their lives, become informed, and rise up to what's going on right now. It's like this metaphor - a frog in cold water that's being heated, that will eventually boil (and cause pain and kill the frog), will not jump out.
But a frog that is put into boiling water will jump out. We're taking everything laying down right now - we're the most pathetically submissive people ever to be screwed by our government. And who's fault is that?
Our own. So, why are there so many ignorant conservatives? Why the f*ck are there so many passionless liberals?
EDIT: How was Obama terrible, or even bad? He didn't get everything done that he wanted to - but guess what? There are three branches in a government and everything he proposed got shot down by republicans in the House and Senate.
A president can't just do anything he wants. Not only that, but he came into the presidency with a run down economy (thanks to Bush), a war (thanks to Bush), extreme unemployment (thanks to Bush), etc., etc. Bush came into presidency with a cushion on government spending and he STILL caused massive debt. Seemingly irreversible debt that Obama is doing his best to get control of.
Like I said, he can't just pass everything he wants. Another thing to consider is that the last two years of a president's first term is campaigning for the next term. Had Obama tried anything too drastic, it would have made re-election extremely difficult.
With re-election this year, I think he'll go all out. People like to cite that the worst rates in history are happening right now, in his term. But seriously?
You're telling me that you expect one man to flip a whole economy over in four years? With republican majorities in the House and Senate? Where the f*ck YOU living?
After Bush screws everyone over, you're okay with blaming Obama? You should be ashamed to be calling yourself a liberal, man.
My idea of a real conservative is Ron Paul, not Mitt and Ryan. There's just something about peace and liberty and the US Constitution that appeals to me, and with either Romney or Obama I see military intervention and vanishing liberties on the way. But I imagine if we're going to have military intervention and vanishing liberties most people would rather have a job while that happens, and many people feel Romney is more likely to reduce unemployment than Obama.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
