Of course teachers should be allowed to defend themself and the students from unruly, out of control kids. Rarely does a situation arise in a classroom that would need such intervention, but teachers need to be allowed to act instantly for the safety of all. Today's schools practice for fire, weather, lockdowns, and all sorts of emergencies.
It would be absurd for teachers to fear criminal or civil court for protecting people. Teachers have a very difficult job in today's modern American society. The lack of support from admins, community and the public in general provides students with a lack of respect for teachers.
To further erode a teachers ability to provide a safe place for education is just another nail in the coffin for public education. How sad that this needs to go to congress and even sadder that some people are worried that this could lead to abuse on the part of proffesionals.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
