(1) Most of us don't give a crap about Christmas unless taxpayer money is spent on it. THAT'S unconstitutional. (2) The "god" in the Pledge of Allegiance was not a part of the original pledge and not in the spirit of the founding of this nation.
It was only added during the McCarthyism backlash in the 50s so we could distinguish ourselves from those "godless commies". In fact, the estate of the gentleman who wrote the Pledge was incensed at the addition, since it was supposed to be about loyalty to one's country- a country where there is supposed to be religious freedom. (3) NOTHING "overrides" the law of the Establishment Clause of the Constitution.
The Constitution can't be ignored simply because the majority might believe in something.
FYI...The pledge of allegiance was written by a Christian Socialist...and the original didn't have the words "under god" until 1954...which is its most recent change...The pledge has gone through four changes and wasn't even intended to become such an useless symbol of pride...and its salute was the same as the very popular Nazi Salute...before it went to the hand on the heart...after WWII...
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
