Simple yes/no question: Do you believe 97.4% of climate scientists are wrong about global warming?

This really is a political question. OR a psychology question. It's a tribute to the effectiveness of the radical right wing media.

Mostly Faux-lies. The problem is, "They're trying to steal your money" Is far more effective than, "You need to pay more for the good of your children." This is particularly true in this age of 30 years of deficit spending, when republicans cut taxes, but not services, borrowing the money to do so, knowing that our children and grandchildren are going to have to pay.

A person, or a country, probably doesn't get more morally bankrupt than when it steals from it's children.

I think you’ll find that the population is far less split than some people want you to believe. The largest survey ever conducted into the public’s opinion about climate change was conducted across thirty different countries and involved tens of thousands of respondents. 90% of those polled said they considered climate change to be either a “serious” or a “very serious” problem.

8% didn’t think it was serious and the other 2% had no opinion or didn’t answer the question. Here’s the question and the full breakdown of the results: http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/p... Those who don’t want you to believe in climate change have a tendency to lie and deceive. They’ll tell you that the figure of 97% of climate scientists was achieved by cherry picking the scientists to ask, or that the figure represents just 75 out of 10,257 earth scientists.

The truth is that the research was conducted by William Anderegg, James Prall, Jacob Harold and Stephen Schneider in 2010, it focussed only on climate scientists and considered the opinions of the 1,372 most published climate scientists in the world. Their report was entitled “Expert Credibility In Climate Change” and was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Here’s the report: http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2010/0... - - - - - - - - - - EDIT: TO PINDAR “All climate scientists are paid to agree with AGW” – really?

Please name a single one. “belief in man made climate in the UK is very very low,way under 20%” – really? Please link to any survey, ever conducted, anywhere, by anyone, that supports this.

The actual figure is that just 2% of people in the UK think climate change is “not serious at all” – see my first link. EDIT: TO ERIC C The figure of 97% is indeed based on the opinions of 75 climate scientists, the higher figure of 97 to 98% is based on the opinions of climate scientists only – the 1,372 most published climate scientists in the world. See my second link for the study.

EDIT TO FLOSSIE: Climate is the weather averaged over a period of at least 30 years, it’s the culmination of billions of observations; think of it as being the average weather in any given place at any given time. The weather can fluctuate widely from one day to the next and is influenced by many factors. When you add together at least 10,000 days worth of weather you get a solid average.

Whereas for example, there could be a 10°C difference in temperature over a period of just a few hours, when you look at the climatic average the temperature the variation is minute, just a few thousandths of one degree.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
