There are several different ways to answer this question. I don't like Google particularly, but I was forced to buy the Android. That said, I also think the Android is superior in that it offers a QWERTY keypad, which the Apple doesn't in one of its models, although it does offer an apple ripoff (a waste of money).
From a privacy perspective I HATE that it backs up to Google. The problem with both phones, as with all smart phones, is that all of them are running afoul of all federal disability laws and FCC regs, which mandate that people with disabilities be able to use them. Why do you care?
Well, apart from the fact that this affects twenty percent of the population who lives in horrific living conditions thanks to continued prejudice, or even grandma who is also affected by this and might have a disability, the makers of these products are flagrantly breaking several laws, people with disabilities who are currently considered disabled thanks to disgusting government policies that waste billions of taxpayers dollars and ruin millions of lives, could actually GET OFF federal assistance and get employment, saving YOU the taxpayer the equivalent of the OLD national debt EVERY YEAR, and there are other implications which are very cool, which I won't go into here, but will put Google firmly in their places (as in stop trying to rule the world) and stop their monopoly on SEO manipulation. Among other things. In terms of quality...well, even though I'm an Apple fan, the reality is that both phones shoot MPEG 4.
And if you want to see the quality of what an Android phone shoots (although if you go with the QWERTY keyboard version, you give up the option of HD, but I can't use a touchscreen and trust me, its worth the tradeoff), take a look at some of the roughcut versions of promos for a documentary I'm working on, that I've uploaded as a work in progress on a similarly rough work in progress temporary website, edited on a crap consumer editing system (URL below). I've been a professional filmmaker among other things, by the way for over twenty years, and my first completely digitally shot and edited documentary (over an hour long) is still online. So I know what I'm talking about, have worked in the national media, and this crap about "Iphone vs. Android" is actually a matter of anti trust, privacy, compliance, usability, and several other boring things that I'm sure you don't want to read about.
Check out what's possible with the Android (this one is a Moment model made by Samsung) with the caveat that its predecessor, the Helio, which was discontinued and thus I was forced to accept the Android, being no fan of Google and thus not promoting it in any way, is representative of the kind of quality of service and output that you can get. Oh..and one more thing. US customers are being ripped off by ALL the telcos and bundled smartphone/carrier services (with the exception of Blackberry customers who pay a huge premium) by not being allowed to have international access via cellphone, not to mention having access to more than one carrier at a time (which the Helio offered).
I'm a telco geek too. Check out that website and make your own conclusions. Both phones shoot MPEG4 which is the geek name for the leading edge in digital video.
Oh, and the Android Moment, made by Samsung, is only $99 which blows the Iphone out of the water in terms of price. Finally, in terms of carriers, I have nothing good to say about Verizon. Sprint, while problematic including under other laws you probably have no interest in (like FISA) at least has decent customer service. At Verizon, I'm not sure they know how to spell it.
And yes, since we are on the topic of disability, their idea of treating people with disabilities is to rip them off, treat them like dirt, and think that women don't know the difference between data, video and voice in a digital world (you probably don't either, but suffice it to say that if you are paying more for unlimited data you are being ripped off) and lied to me as a customer about providing me with data only service when I specifically requested it (at the time I was helping to build one of the largest international IP networks in the world for an international bank, so I am rather familiar with the topic). When I put my male roommate on the line, the answer was different. These are the places that customer service counts.

An iPhone would be better. IPhones have more apps, they're more secure, they have a more unified interface, they're faster, and they integrate better iLife if you are a Mac user. One other reason why iPhones are better is the screen.
Outside of the high resolution screen, the touch is very accurate, much more so than most other smartphones. Of course it's hard to really give a good answer since there are dozens of Android phones and one iOS phone, so what am I really comparing to the iPhone?
I say get an android phone... That verizon iphone may be out in January but it may be out further like march or July... I really like the Android OS. It does everything I need and i'm not locked to apple. If you buy an apple app it is locked to one of the four iOS devices... Since Google has an open system developers and manufacturers can do whatever they URL1 makes some complications at times but for the most part it works just as well as apple.
If I decide to get a new phone, switch carriers, or use an app not in the market I can move it all from my old android device.
It was only a few years ago when Verizon Wireless customers complained they didn't have enough choices when it came to cool new phones. Now it looks Verizon is the place to be for the latest and greatest in smartphones. But what's an average smartphone consumer to do?
It seems like every week, Verizon is adding a new "flagship" device to its offering. While Verizon representatives say they are simply trying to offer customers more choice, they're also creating some confusion. In this Friday's Ask Maggie, I help one reader get a handle on what Verizon has to offer.
Android customers to wait for the new Ice Cream Sandwich update to Android or not. Ask Maggie is an advice column that answers readers' wireless and broadband questions. The column now appears twice a week on CNET offering readers a double dosage of Ask Maggie's advice.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
