Sites, search terms and their order for finding antique travel books - not books about traveling and finding antiques?

I'm looking for artwork taken from my mother's family by the Nazi's. There are no longer survivors who would be able to assist and none of the deceased left written inventories behind. The Commission for Looted Art is helping with Nazi archives and looking for records of what was taken from the homes, but I had an additional idea.

They owned a hotel. It seems entirely possible that an antique travel book could contain detailed descriptions, down to exact specifics, of the hotel and its URL1 many of my searches end up with books about the best flea markets in Italy. Austria, Vienna, Bergenland, or Sauerbrunn if you are familiar with any of the specifics.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thanks. -H Asked by hunting 45 months ago Similar questions: Sites search terms order finding antique travel books traveling antiques Arts > Books.

1 Wow! What a remarkable undertaking! Good luck in your search!

I would almost guess that a trip to Europe to old book stores might be the best way to find such a book(s).

Genealogists recommend that when looking for family names. Good luck and what an awesome task and great idea.

3 antique + "travel books" will probably work best if you're using google. Also use different terminology like "out of print" or '1930s' along with "travel books". Remember, travel books are called lots of things."hotel reviews", "austrian hotels" and also use the german terms for "hotel" "travel" or "book" which may help you find it.

This is because unless their hotel was featured in books directed for American or British travellers, it was PROBABLY printed in German for the regional customers.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
