Some in the news media are accusing people who are against the proposed health care plan of being racist?

2 Sorry for the update, folks: I couldn't recall Carlos Watson's name..........I do read Cynthia Tucker's column in the AJC on a regular basis, no need to look for her name or Matthews' name.

3 I've encountered only one conservative (out of dozens) who actually knew what "socialism" means, so it must have some sort of code word meaning for the many who are shrieking it as an accusation in America's town halls. For some, it's surely a racial word. Is that a cheap shot?

That's up to each individual to decide. Personally, I don't care. America is going to get what it deserves.

4 Misinformed or not, they certainly are angry. I think this is just the last straw for many.

Yet, they (the bills proponents) know it really does promote the things people fear. They know they cannot admit or argue for these things because they would lose for sure. These things that are really in the bill are unpopular.

People do not want the government playing god in their lives. So what they do is lie (about what is actually in the bill, use the word RUMORS) and then blame opposition to the bill on racism and the views of the far right being pushed on society.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
