Spilled cooking oil dripped under the stovetop burners. Is it safe to use?

Spilled cooking oil dripped under the stovetop burners. Is it safe to use? A 1 gallon plastic jug of Sunflower cooking oil melted near a recently turned off electric burner and all the oil washed over the counter and stovetop, dripping under the burners and puddled in the unit's bottom.

I wiped it all up and cleaned best I could with Windex. The burners and drip trays will be replaced with new, but I am concerned about residue in the "pan" or housing, underneath catching fire. The unit is basically a large metal pan and the four electric burners are suspended on top.

Each burner/element has a round drip/catch tray. The controls are push-button style off to one side and I'm sure some oil leaked in there too. (GE circa-1958)This was an accident, as my wife was looking for something in the cabinate under the stove, pulled out the jug of oil and placed it too near the burner.

Cooking oil doesn't ignite..After thorough cleaning,it's safe to use now. Like me, I am a cooking mom. I don't worry if oil spills over.

What I do is I even was the burner and I let it dry then I use it again afterwards. You don't need to change with new ones when you can possibly wash them with water and dishwashing liquid. All the grease will be gone and just let the washed pans and burners dry up and then you can use them again.

Don't panic. Oil doesn't ignite. If there are residues, they will just eventually dry up due to heat and soon be gone.No need to worry.

I know and I have experienced it many times more than you do. Sources: OWN OPINION..

Spilled Oil It defintely will become somoky if heated. Keep washing it down. Is it a self cleaning oven?

You can run that. It's wise to replace the burners. I believe we have the same stove.

All I can say is proceed with caution. Cook small things at a time and see the aftemath. It might get smoky, it's happened to me, but eventually it dries up.

I f it seems more than that, shut it down, pul the plug as it could possibly create a fire. I don't think it will happen, but be cautious and keep cleaning it out and dry thoroughly. I hope some else could give jou more information.

I'm talking through my experience. Mybe there is something elso you can do I didn't upon. Good luck and be safe..

The oil could start a fire However, if you've cleaned as well as it sounds from your descirtion in your question, I think you're safe. The cleaning added to degredation of the oil over a relatively short period of time. You can accellerate the process by turning the burners on low for a period of time.

I'd stand by for a while, but that oil will evaporate and no longer be flammable within a few days of regular use. Have you considered this a good excuse to buy a new stove? That's what I'd do.

Bon Appetit! .

I would use a degreaser to clean it up You should probably use a degreaser in case but I doubt you will have any problems if you cleaned it up right away. Can cooking oil be used in a pressure cooker.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
