I'll start by saying I'm basically a liberal, and that I do own guns. Th e problem with this debate is that everyone is all or nothing. It's total indoctrination on both sides of the argument.
On one hand you have conservatives who would like to ignore the reality that bad people are getting guns. On the other hand you have liberals using terms like " assault rifle", which are terms invented by and defined by gun control advocates to begin with. The things I hear liberals saying about guns are usually based on technical, statistical, and historical fallacies.
All that bing said, yes I do believe the ultimate intention of the 2nd amendment is to ward off tyranny. It has also stopped us from being invaded in our own history. In ww2 the Japanese originally wanted to invade the US by land rather than attack Pearl Harbor.
The reason they didn't. " we can not invade the United States by land because there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass. The amendment was written shortly afte we defeated a government that's first goal in the revolutionary war was to take guns away from citizens.
So yes I do believe that the intention was a last resort against tyranny.
This is true. Without the 2nd even Free Speech passes away. And I don't actually care if small nations like Germany do not have our Freedoms.
They are not nations filled with diverse states and people. No matter how badly Libs want to press everyone into one mold.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
