SQL Server 2008 FOR INSERT trigger not working?

If by "it's not really working" you mean that it's allowing conflicting data to be inserted and then raising an error, this is because you've specified a FOR INSERT trigger which means that it's happening after the data is inserted.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
