You need at least $1000 in income to get an apartment for 350/month. When you are paying your own housing, SSI will go up to 733/month plus a state supplement if there is one (most states don't have one). Even if they raise your SSI, it will not be enough.
Even if you have food stamps, it will not be enough. If you have not been re evaluated as adult, you need to wait for that to happen, many people who get SSI as a kid have the benefits terminated when they are an adult because the adult criteria is different. Besides I doubt there is any apartment in the US that is only 350/month.
With the holidays, it would never be processed before January 1st. If you were to sign a lease in early January, you might get the increase by February 1. Will you need to pay any utilities?
Even with food stamps, you will need at least $100 for additional food, as well as things like soap, toothpaste, laundry, toilet paper, etc. Also, transportation costs, any medical costs medicaid doesn't covert, clothes, recreation. NO reputable landlord would rent an apartment to you if you only income is 733 SSI. If that is just a room for rent including ALL utilities (gas, electric, heat, hot water, TV, internet) you could manage on SSI alone.. You will also need renter's insurance that is about $15/month.
The big issue is liability is someone gets hurt in your apartment or you cause a fire, you need insurance to cover you. If this is low income housing, are you sure you can actually get a place? Usually the wait list is years long.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
