Your father will be denied a transplant due to his drinking. He must absolutely quit ALL drinking any alcohol for the rest of his life to qualify. In the U.S., they won't even consider someone for one until they prove they have been sober for at least 6 months and it's probably pretty much the same with your transplant centers.
To make sure the patient is sincere about never drinking, the patient must also go through counseling or some type of rehab to address their alcoholism and also agree to have random blood testing for alcohol and drugs anytime they feel like asking for a test. If it is ever positive for alcohol or drugs, they will be denied in the U.S.

There is a huge screening process involved, you have to match blood types and you have to be healthy enough to donate, both physically and mentally. He also has to go through rigorous screening and will have to quit drinking. You have quite a few years to go before you have to worry about it, the liver can withstand lots of abuse and can heal itself if given time.
