Nothing is wrong with being creative and introducing magic into a world as something people use. Many Christians do it. My favorite book series is the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan.
He was an Episcopalian christian, had communion more than once weekly for the last 10 years of his life and wrote over 10,000 pages of sword slashing, magic weaving fiction. You remember Lord of the Rings, there was certainly magic in it, and Gandalf was no horrible evil Satanic figure. If you read the last of book of Harry Potter series for all the magic they use it is a Christian based story, and you'll note they never drew magic from spirits or demons, it was inborn power.
There are many, many more christian authors who write fantasy and have magic used in their stories. If anything they are probably more devout than most Christians because they use their stories to spread the Word. It is never wrong to use your imagination It is wrong to ignore it though if God gave you a good one, or even a mediocre one.
Since every answer to a question about the bible is met with a pat, simple, illogical answer, I'd have to say that most of the christians I have met lack imaginations and are not encouraged by the church to use one if they have it.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
