Sylvia Brown is an obviously fake psychic, yet many people still believe her predictions. Why?

Sorry, Sylvia is inarguably a fake. youtube.com/watch?v=5L9hki5Nlyohttp://ww....

People are always drawn to those who say what they want to hear, regardless of the validity of the statements.

People believe a lot of things, for a lot of reasons. To each his own is what I say to it. Do I think its a bit sad?

Of course I do. It is unfortunate that so many people are being led to believe that they are communicating with loved ones who have passed on. In many ways, this is simply saying that the people who have survived have not moved on, and Brown is actually setting these people back a couple of paces.

Still, how one finds comfort is many fold. For some it is belief in a religion. For others it is the belief that those who have died who they loved have moved on to a better place.

For others it is something else. Is that damaging? To some, perhaps. To others?

Perhaps not. It just depends. People are free to believe what they want, and people like Brown are free to express what they want and let the public decide for themselves whether or not what she is doing is ethical, or true.

Well its not really predictions if she is a fake psychic. What you mean is why do people believe in nonsense spewing out of her? Well thats easy.

She is no different than any other crook out there. It could be a politician or a salesman. She is basically a saleswoman peddling her product.

People are interested in listening to her and reading her material because of curiosity or it could be hope. Both of which can lead a naive person to believe in any crap someone else is spewing at them.

Sylvia Brown is a peddler of a hope message, and she thus fulfills a need created by our Darwinian-based insecurities. Intractable problems can only be "resolved" by the expediency of believing in some hopeful message, such as those dispensed by religious narratives, quackeries, self-help gurus, and pseudo-psychics. Belief of this nature is an adoption of the idea that "anything is possible".

How do we reach out and touch a loved one we have lost through death? Reason and science are no help - the only help available comes from our own adoption of hope. Even if it is patently absurd to do so.

Dark Ages, anyone?

I don't think she is fake. She has helped out police with solving many crimes. I believe in psychic abilities, I believe everyone experiences something one time in there life, like dreaming something and it happens, or you've been to a place that you know you've been there before but your not sure.

I believe in some of Sylvia Browns predictions like I said she helped solve a lot of mysteries.

I ask the same thing about religion but people still spend hours a day reading the bible, praying and telling others about the greatness of god. Not much makes sense in this world.

Though I don't believe in everything Ms Browne says I do believe it is possible to connect to our loved ones through spirit. I believe we are all souls evolving and with each life we learn how to be more loving-though it may not appear to anyone that we progressed at all. I think the objective in each life is to learn how to love spiritually -by not judging others based on their appearance, their career, their financial worth, and their many other human characteristics but to learn how to close our eyes to these things and connect to their souls.

People like Sylvia try to be mediators to souls we have lost like ministers try to be mediators to God-when we all have the ability to be a mediator. It has been clear to me when I have lost loved ones in my life that all of these things didn't matter one bit-all that mattered was did they love me and did I love them? What disappears in death is not what mattered at all-what remains in my spirit and soul of that person is all that matters...

It is simply not obvious to all that she is a "fake psychic". That is why many still believe in her. I have no intentions to judge her as a fake or a true psychic.

However, I have seen her state some facts, that only a few including myself know, while the masses don't believe it to be true. She was ridiculed for that.

I think that people are always looking for a "soothing" answer to issues that they may not have dealt with properly or have that "closure" to. Those people usually haven't searched for the right way to greive, forgive or just plain "get over' whatever the issue is. A Psycic nearly always gives a pleasing answer.

I can't quote verses, but the bible tells us that it is impossible to have contact with the dead. Psycics are professionals that are very good at picking out things about you and asking you the "right" questions that make their answers seem very real and the desperate people are the ones that fall into that trap. If you notice, most people say that they just "have to know" whatever it is that they are looking for.

Example: In a head on car accident at 55 mph you are dead in 0.7 sec. What does it matter if that person felt anything or not? Improper healing is my answer.

Seek God! God Bless.

Sylvia Brown! Well, I don't know her that much. That aside, PREDICTIONS like WEALTH draw attention, whether they be real or not.

Wonder why people, especially ladies love "sweet lies? " Whether they know or not if her predictions are true or not doesn't really matter. The sweet thrill is in the waiting... the waiting for the accomplishment of the prediction.

Believe it or not Chasuk, words have strength, power. They are spirits. Believing yet in these spirits give them more power.

The more the people involved in the believe also, the much greater its strength. In other words, everyone is a "psychic". Some JAZZZZz do come true!

Little wonder why some people will believe her predictions even upon death.( Everyone, no matter how UNREAL have at least 2 followers). I love this question-thank you for asking it! I should write on it perhaps.

Because she is not a fake! Maurice Turmel PhDNoLostHope.com.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
