I can't tell you a particular model to get because it's really what types of bells and whistles you want. But I can tell you from my experience what to look for. I have a Cuisinart toaster oven with convection heat and, although it's only three years old, it didn't hold up very well.

First off, some genius decided that it would be a good idea to have the crumb tray pull out from that back. Now think about that - you have your toaster oven installed and need to remove the tray from the back. And one other thing we didn't consider when buying a white toaster oven is that the white frame around the door, turns brown from the heat.

But I've noticed some models nowadays that even though they're white, they made the framing around the door black. If the oven is made of plastic, you shouldn't have to worry about the outside getting hot. Believe it or not, it holds up rather well.

You may also check to see if the unit will turn off automatically because it's real easy to walk away from it while it's cooking and not think about it until the smoke detector goes off. Also check the wattage and make sure the receptacle you're plugging it into can handle the amperage. You don't want to have it all installed then keep resetting a circuit breaker every time you make a baked potato.

And "easy to clean" is subjective. The best way to maintain a toaster oven is to clean it after every use but, as we all know, that's a rarity - especially if you have kiddies.
