In the early 1500's the Catholic Church used to sell "Indulgences". They were kind of get out of sin free cards. An individual would buy an indulgence to prepay for penance and could therefore avoid the confessional.
For those of you who are history buffs, this practice was what Martin Luther wrote his 95 Theses about, which he nailed to the door of the Castle Church. The difference between "scruples" and "indulgences" is that scruples are supposed to stop you from sinning in the first place. More.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
