They Philadelphia Flyers will look to add a proven goaltender during the off-season. There's already talk that the Flyers are in discussions with Evgeni Naboko and Marty Turco, both of whom are set to become unrestricted free agents as of July 1st. Either goalie would likely be an improvement for the Flyers, although I'm leery of Turco, because he played for a strong defensive team for many years with the Dallas Stars, and his numbers may be inflated somewhat.
There's also been some rumors that the Flyers would have an interest in the Vancouver Canucks prospect, Cory Schneider, who was named the best goalie in the AHL only two years back, and who doesn't really have a home in Vancouver since Roberto Luongo is signed for the long term. The way I see it, the Flyers will probably pursue Nabokov and Turco in free agency, and if they fail to land them, will start looking at who's available in a trade.
I think it all comes down to who is available in the offseason. Certainly the Philadelphia Flyers might want to do better than what either of their goaltenders was able to come up with in the Stanley Cup finals, but whether or not such a goalie will be available is up for some discussion. Trading for a goalie isn’t always the easiest thing in the world and of course the Flyers would need to take into account whether they were actually acquiring a goalie that was better than the two they already have.
Mike Leighton had a couple of good games in the finals, stopping 24 of 27 shots in his team’s game three overtime win and in game two, even though they lost 2-1 he stopped 24 of 26 shots on goal. If he could build on those successes he might be able to take over as the starter next year for the team.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
