Lol @ marie. First in? No, for he last 56 years that's been SOFs.
Before that aside from humanitarian missions and a couple islands it's always been the army. Last out? That's a joke.
If that was the case why did the marines pull out of Iraq 2 years ago? Army's still there... Few who make it through basic? The usmc boot camp has a 90% pass rate.
That's not few. JD would have you believe the usmc is some elite first to fight invasion force that handles all the combat... but that's because he's bitter because he wasted his time in the usmc as a POG electrician and hates the army where people actually get the MOS they want instead of getting stuck as REMFs. The ONLY things the marines do that the army doesn't are amphibious assault (which hasn't been used in 10 years), MEFs which most of the time don't do anything, and look pretty at embassies and in front of a few monuments.
Overall no marines don't do things better than the army. There's a reason why the army makes up the main line for every single major invasion in this country's history while marines make up the supporting line, army generals get chosen to be in charge of theatres, the army gets better funding, and (to point to recent events) the marines failed to take falujah on their own and had to all in army units for it to be retaken. As for what they are doing in war zones: same thing.
They are assigned an AO and handle everything in that AO. Same as army. Here's my advice: 1: see what branch offers you the job you want 2: see which branch offers it the best 3: see which branch offers a deployment schedule that you prefer the most JD- actually you've stated dozens of times that "marines are better" or "marines are elite" or "marines are the first into battle".
It's good to see you've abandoned those retarded and untrue notions finally, did you change your medication or something? The rest of your post shows the normal complete lack of knowledge though: You won't find yourself on an assault ship making an amphibious assault as a marine these days either, the last one was done in 2003. If you want to talk about amphibious assault then let's not forget the biggest one in US history was all army.
Not a single marine present. Going by your previous posts you obviously desperately wanted marines to be land warfare units... the entire usmc isn't any more mobile or rapidly deplorable than the army. The marines have MEFs that can be anywhere in 24 hours, the army had the 82nd that can be anywhere in 18 and whatever unit on DRB status is also capable of being boots on the ground in 24 hours.
20MAR2003 isn't days before the ground campaign of oif, it was the start date of the ground campaign. Conventional army troops were in Iraq that day, you should at least do some research before you try to make something up Army units have been training other countries for a long time too, that's not marine specific at all. The usmc isn't training Chinese marines.
They had a small competition a whole back but neither side trained the other one. Considering the Chinese beat the us marines at the obstacle course maybe the usmc should recieve some training from them though... That's not that high of a casualty rate for that war, that's only about 1 in 16. 11E had more than 1 in 4, so nice try but once you actually look at it in perspective your whole argument goes.
Army air crews fight just the same as marines ones do, and for them it's also their maintenance personnel. So again, nothing special. Not all marine air crews attend SAR school.
Like the army marine rotary wing aviation units cross train for SAR but it's not a specialty, it's the same way infantry train for CLS. And considering that the marines don't have their own SAR school they attend the navy's... Where you don't tread water for 6 hours a day.
Everything you have heard about the Marines is true. And likely false. Don't buy into the propaganda but know that the Marines are great at what they do.
As you can see from some of your responses, many people get their information from movies. The last time the Marines were first anywhere was likely WWII in the Pacific and I'm not sure about that. But that doesn't mean that the Marines aren't a fantastic fighting force.
The Army does do more and has more and we have more opportunities to be stationed overseas and to deploy. But do you want to be a Soldier or do you want to be a Marine? That is what matters.
If you really want to be a Marine, you will be disappointed by your term of service in the Army. All service is honorable and "worth it". You will be satisfied with your time in the Marine Corps.
Good luck!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
