Toy Poodle or Yorkie?

Ok first off, glad you're doing research..it happens too often these days that no one cares do to the all-important research before they buy a dog! So anyway, my first choice would be a toy poodle. Why?

Well, for one thing, they are incredibly smart for their size. Most toy breeds such as Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, Shih Tzus, and so on can be pretty stubborn or just harder to train. Poodles learn very quickly, no matter the size.

They are almost like Border Collies is smarts, but without the need for constant stimulation. So I would personally choose the poodle, even though one thing that is the same between the two breeds is that they both don't shed much but need to be trimmed regularly, which can add up to some serious $$$ over time.. If your dog will only be alone for a short while, and is reliably housetrained (something that may not quite be possible at 5-6 months, seeing as they are still puppies, and can't always hold it), then being alone shouldn't be a problem. But make sure that if you are busy doing homework a lot, as you said, to remember that your dog will need a lot of care...and I mean A LOT.

A dog isn't something that can just sit outside or locked in a kennel all day, though they will usually find something to occupy themselves, whether it's good or bad. Now also, one last thing- if anyone suggests you get a "Yorkiepoo" or a "cockapoo" or a "labradoodle" or anything even remotely like that, run in the opposite direction. Only Backyard Breeders, breeders who breed for nothing but cash, breed MUTTS, which is what those "yorkiepoos" really are.No good breeder sells mutts, they breed dogs only to improve the breed and make working-class dogs.

Plus stay away from any "teacup" dogs too, because those are really just runts bred to more runts to create more unhealthy runts to scam people...Also, please don't buy puppies from newspapers or online- go to a local shelter and adopt a dog/puppy that needs a home badly. Hope this helps.

A yorkie will bark a lot , and that might be a problem in a apartment. They also can require a great amount of care, and you have to know what your doing in this breed. A poodle is a very smart little dog, you can train it fairly easy.

Since your going to leave the dog for a period of time, don't get a puppy , puppies require one on one attention a lot , you would not have time for one.

My mum and dad used to work full time so my dogs were left in my kitchen and games room for about 7 hours all day and they were fine because my dad would wear them out on a long walk before he went to work. I have a german shepard and a lhasa apso (like a shih tzu). It doesn't take long to wear out a little dog because of there size so make sure you do walk them if possible before you go to school or at least let them go to the toilet outside.

I would recommend getting a poodle because the only yorkies I know bark 24/7 and seeing as you live in an apartment I don't think your neighbors would like that. Also about homework it won't affect your dog much as long as you stroke it and don't completely ignore it. Good luck with your new pet!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
