By law you made an agreement, you bought the car used, and as is, by accepting the car, you accept the car and terms of the agreement. Not to say it's right or wrong that he sold you a bad car, but you accepted it. In a court of law, which is where you'll be if you don't pay him for the car, you WILL be found in the wrong and still have to pay him the money you owe him, plus legal fees.
At the very least if you walk away from it your reputation will be shot in your town. It really comes down to what ever means more to you, your reputation or money, too many people choose money now a days. Use it as a learning experience, pay what you promised to pay, and sleep good at night knowing your a better person for it.
Don't take the easy (sleezy) way out.
You have no choice.... YOU MUST PAY HIM THE REMAINING BALANCE! He didn't guarantee or warranty the car. All he promised you was a clear title and a registerable car... nothing more, nothing less.
Even if the engine and the tranny blew up the next day, it's YOUR car and YOUR responsibility to pay off the debt! If you don't pay, he will sue you and win. You were the airheaded bimbo that bought the car without having it first inspected by a mechanic!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
