Tumble Dryer is hot, but clothes can not be dried, what is the problem?

I just moved into an apartment with stackable GE washer and dryer. The dryer gets very hot (feel by hand from outside) in 15-mins after start. However, the clothes could never be drier even after 80mins cycle.

Interestingly, water is dripping from the dryer gasket (the inside wall of the dryer door). It seems like the dryer is working fine but the humidity could not get out of the system. Anyone with similar problems?

Sounds to me like the vent is clogged up. That would allow the dryer to get hot, but none of the moisture would escape. The vent can be clogged by lint or even a sock or something.

I would report it to the manager. A vent clogged with lint can catch on fire.

Sounds like the exhause/vent pipe is clogged or kinked Just pull out the dryer from the wall and see where the silver flex pipe is coming out of the lower back of the dryer. The washer and dryer may have gotten pushed too tightly against the wall...bending this vent pipe so the moist/hot air can't escape from the dryer. I'm willing to bet that that's the problem.

Like you mentioned...the dryer is hot...and the water dripping from the dryer gasket is a major clue that the hot/humid air isn't being released from the unit. Your laundry is just getting a 'steam bath'. I think you'll find that once this vent is working, your wash load should be dry in less than an hour.

These fins need to be cleaned weekly in order for the moisture in the air to collect on the fins of the condenser; I normally clean ours by back washing it in the shower. These are my suggestions, I hope they offer you some help! .

Thoroughly clean the lint trap and the ducting to the outside. And don't use the dryer until you do; you could start a fire in there from heat build-up.
