Sorry to hear about your sister's condition. You report that it was caused by a virus at age 6. In that case, the disease was not genetic, so you apparently got lucky.
8 years have passed without the symptoms of your sister's condition - blindness/deafness - manifesting. So it appears you are in the clear. Your sister's case is heartbreaking.
I am extremely proud of you learning sign language and doing all you can to help her. The fact that the condition was contracted at age 6 suggests that she was already exposed to normal hearing and speech at an early age, so her odds are better than those of children who have never experienced a normal sensory environment. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
