You should have two events each time, onchange and onclick. But, I'd recommend to switch to a4j:commadnButton instead of using h:commandButton with a4j:support inside.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
