Love Gatlinburg! Legends By Max (865)-436-7343 - Italian place I love the entire area. Pigeon Forge included. My ex-wife was from Tenn.
And I loved going to visit her folks in Morristown. In fact, that is the biggest thing I miss about her.It is beautiful country. Everything is packed into one accessible shopping area.
There is a nice little tavern like resturant in the main center that I love, but I am at a loss for the name right now.In short, there is not a "can't miss" place to go. The town has done a really good job of giving the tourists a show. I would avoid the franchise museums like the Ripley's and the Guiness World Records. It is neat, but rather expensive for what you get.
If you are really into that type of stuff, it is interesting, but there are other local attractions and shops that I think your time is better served. There are craftshops that custom make some wonderful pieces at reasonable prices. I have a plaque for my house that was made there.
I really would plan too hard, you will get there and try to keep to your schedule and miss all the little things. Be spontaneous and look in every little nook. You will not be disappointed.
If you can, be sure to take the driving tour of the Smokies. It is wonderful. Good luck and have fun.
Greatest Gatlinburg attraction is all natural, scenic beauty..Smokey Moutain National Park Drive to Cades Cove early in morning to see the sun rise...it is breathtaking. Also the history of the Cove is most interesting. Most downtown stuff is junk...hard to find the traditonal, local craftspeople.
Try some of the tours through moutain areas. Regaing food, when in Rome....... try the Southern Cuisine, it’s hearty and satisfying. If "The Log" is still there on the outskirts, away from downtown, go for the Southern buffet.
The chicken and old fashioned dumplins will provide a true south taste. It’s been a long time since I was there but these sights and food are remembered.
Unfortunately I cant help you with an Italian dinner but.... Be SURE to have breakfast or lunch atleast once at the Pancake House. They have incredible food. It’s not a Perkins or a Denny’s but a unique family owned restaurant with a great staff and truly outstanding food.
Breakfast or lunch...you won't be sorry you went. If you want something ’downhome’ and a nice place to eat go to the MillHouse. There will be a line but wait it out.
They serve huge portions of home made items that is plenty for two. Their meals come with everything inclusive....even desert. The food is really good and the place is an old Paper Mill building. It’s really cool.
They also have little shops there to browse around while you’re waiting for your table. Make sure you visit Dollywood. My husband and I never miss it. We especially love it in the fall.
It has so many interesting things to see and isnt your run of the mill vacation spot. Lots of arts and crafts and yummy food (again the food! ) Really the most wonderful thing about Gatlinburg is the mountains.
Go horse back riding or white water rafting. They call it God’s Country for a reason. Visit once and you’ll understand why!
Have a great trip! Sources: our favorite vacation spot Google Map View Larger Map .
I went last year to Gatlinburg and ate at a great pizzaria. It is not upscale, but not shabby - if you want a good italian flare - this place was good. Called the "best italian" cafe .... found a web site for it.... bestitalian.com/ .
Gatlinburg Musts I have to say that Gatlinburg is not one of my favorite places. When I have gone there with my family there are really only a couple of places that I really like to go. Let me mention that this is actually a walking tourist trap.
Almost everything is right on the main drag and can be done in one day. The two places that I actually like to visit are the Winery that is at the wester end of town. I cannot for the life of me remember it, but I can tell you it is all but hidden behind some other shops.
They had some very good selections and a really nice atmosphere. The other place that I actually had fun at was a hot sauce shop called the "Pepper Palace. " It has moved into a new building since I was last there, but I am sure that it will be easy to find.
They have hundreds of hot sauces, most of which you can try, along with everything hot sauce and spice related. When my sister goes up there she spends about an hour in that shop alone. I have no real about resturauts.
There is a Pancake house that everyone goes too. It is near the Aquarium. I have eaten there twice and it is good simple down home food.
Have fun. Pidgeon Forge is not far away. Yes, the home of Dollywood. As cheesey as it sounds take a visit if you can.
It is worth going just for the food alone.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
