My first guess would be to make sure the stand by switch is not on, because that allows no sound to come through at all, but all you need to do is flip that switch and it should be working if that's the case. Next I would check the connection between the ouput and the speakers. Check the solders, if its an old Fender make sure the 1/4 in end is plugged in all the way and that it is into the output jack.
If all of that seems to be in working order I would look at the tubes (Im guessing since its vintage it must be a tube amp), some of the output tubes maybe out or not installed properly. If you are not sure which ones are the power tubes you can always Google what kind of tubes does ____________ (name of the amp) have. If non of these seem to be the problem I would take it to a local repair shop and let them take a look and see what they find.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
