You should go to your Doctor first and get a letter stating why you cannot work. Then go to the welfare office. In Canada you can get disability benefits for welfare which is a higher amount of benefits than regular welfare.

Also, to qualify for SSD you must have the required amount of work quarters. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
