Of course I would give up a limb to save a family member, no question or hesitation. With all the great technology available to us, I could replace it with a prothesis (spelling? ).
If I had to choose, I would choose my left arm because I am right handed and I would not have to learn how to walk again. I could adapt to a limb loss much easier than losing my husband or daughter.
As a mother my first instinct is to say that I would lose an arm or a leg for my family, if it was a life or death situation. It would be hard but I would adapt to it. You do what you have to do.
Right, its called an Idiom. This expression was used commonly in the 1950's after World War II, when people lost limbs. It was the only way to get out of fighting, no amount of money could get you out of the war... LOL :) This is my best answer that I could find.
Other people thought it was from getting yourself painted before cameras come along. Painters would charge extra to do the body along with the head shot. This is a myth far as I can tell, but sounds plausible.
No. I love my body and I want it to be complete and healthy always. Literally, I cannot sacrifice an arm and a leg for anything.
See explanation for that figurative phrase at theartistoflife.com/blog/uncategorized/i... .
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
