Ulysses" by Franz Ferdinand They both sounded retro, FF early synth 80s and Tea Party very late 80's/early 90's alternative, to me. The Tea Party video even seemed to be a throwback to that era with the irreverently gross DIY approach of gluttonous cake consumption and plastic babies floating in the tea. And I get it, their name is Screaming Tea Party so they had a screaming tea party..............clever.
I thought FF made something more interesting and new with their chosen influence. I will read "Ulysses" someday soon I hope. It's going to be one of my 50 on the book challenge.
I'm tackling it in the beginning of the year so I have plenty of time in case its reputation for inaccessibility isn't all hype. "Hall of the Dead" by Isis They were equally humdrum. I almost picked "Hyperactive" because it's shorter but decided to go with the raspy metal vocals instead of the shrill metal vocals.
"Run This Town" by Jay Z (featuring Rihanna) For years I have struggled with exactly what I should wear to the Apocalypse so I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Rhi Rhi (and her stylist) for helping me finalize my outfit with faux-fur shoulder pads, garters with thigh-high f**k me boots and a fishnet half veil. Apparently civilization will fall but fetish wear will survive. "Let It Rock" by Kevin Rudolf featuring Lil Wayne "Let It Rock" is fluff but it's danceable.
I could put aside my music elitism to dance to it. The only thing that Jerk song inspires me to do is take birth control and punch tweens. "Useful Chamber" by Dirty Projectors Didn't Everything Everything have a big song called "That Thing You Do!"?
Weren't they called The Oneders then? Maybe not.
It's The Witch From Oregon - Screaming Tea Party I'm not a big fan of Franz Ferdinand but Ulysses was alright. I just found the second song held my interest more. On a side note, I do plan to eventually read Ulysses someday.
Hall Of The Dead - Isis Both songs were enjoyable but I just about preferred Hall Of The Dead. Run This Town - Jay-Z I actually kinda like Run This Town. I mean Jay-Z has a lot of songs that are far better but this one is ok.
Jamie T isn't bad but it's just not my type of thing. Let It Rock - Kevin Rudolf ft. Lil Wayne Holy sh*t I can't believe that I voted for a track featuring Lil Wayne. Honestly, the first "song" was one of the most annoying things I have ever heard.
Useful Chambers - Dirty Projectors The first song didn't do anything for me at all. Useful Chambers was better although it was still kinda boring in my opinion.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
