Las Vegas There’s really just one negative about Las Vegas when it comes to business meetings/conventions, and that’s the possible perception (by senior management or other stakeholders) that the meeting isn’t necessary, that it’s just an excuse for people to go party, gamble, etc. In other words, the perception that it’s just a junket. If customers or those adamantly opposed to alcohol or gambling are considerations, that could also be a problem. That being said, there are few cities that can offer great hotel room rates, inexpensive airfare, decent climate (cool in the winter, but no snowstorms or rain, at least highly highly unlikely), hundreds of restaurant choices (at all price ranges), entertainment, shopping, etc. Lots for the spouses to do during the day if they are accompanying the business person.
The strip hotels may be beyond a frugal budget, but there are lots of non-strip hotels (such as Suncoast, Red Rock, South Point, Orleans) that could fit your company’s requirements. Downtown LV might be a good choice as well (e.g. , Main Street Station). FYI if you decide on Las Vegas, I’d avoid the Gold Coast.
I think the rates may be quite low but the hotel itself is sure showing signs of aging. Same with Palace Station (of OJ fame). The off strip hotels create a bit more of a challenge for accompanying family since you can’t walk to attractions, but they almost all offer some type of free shuttle service to the strip.
