When drawing freehand in Photoshop, you can select from a brush pallete that features different shapes and textures that will define the mark made when you touch or drag the cursor to make a spot or line. The most commonly used brushes are a dot (which creates a simple hard-edged line) or a dot with a radating blur that makes a softer line.
